The Princess Grace Hospital (Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace; CHPG) has renewed its responsible restaurant certification, recognising the progress made by its catering service towards more sustainable practices since 2022…
The CHPG was the first establishment in Monaco to commit to the responsible restaurant initiative, setting itself 12 objectives covering different aspects of its catering operation. All have now either been achieved or are well on the way to completion, including the complex transition towards reusable containers.
The hospital serves around 3,000 meals every day across several sites, catering for both patients and staff. Despite the scale of the operation, an average of 95 per cent of patients report being satisfied with the quality of their meals.
CHPG is now looking to build on that progress with five new projects designed to reduce its environmental impact whilst also improving patient wellbeing. Further initiatives are already being considered as the catering team works towards more sustainable and responsibly sourced meals without compromising on quality or affordability.
The service also extends beyond the hospital itself. CHPG’s central kitchen prepares meals for Monaco’s home-delivery service, which supports elderly residents and people experiencing temporary or permanent loss of autonomy. Access requires a medical prescription, with meals adapted where necessary and personalised dietary monitoring provided as part of the service.
