An award-winning album dedicated to French composer Gabriel Dupont was celebrated at the latest Concerts de la Voûte, where pianist Natacha Melkonian joined violinist David Lefèvre for an evening dedicated to the composer’s work.
The concert, held on the evening of Saturday, October 24 at the Reformed Church of Monaco, centred on Melkonian’s recording, which received the Choc Classica 2026 distinction from classical music publication Classica. The performance offered audiences an opportunity to experience Dupont’s compositions through a live interpretation by the two musicians.
Dupont, who lived from 1878 to 1914, was part of a generation of French composers working during a period of considerable change in classical music. His repertoire forms part of the country’s musical heritage, and the recognition of Melkonian’s album has helped bring renewed attention to his work.

The project also highlights the role of performers in keeping lesser-known repertoire in circulation. Through recordings and live performances, musicians can introduce audiences to composers whose works may be less familiar than those of their better-known contemporaries.
The Concerts de la Voûte provided a setting for this musical exploration, combining the presentation of the recognised album with a live performance. The format allowed audiences to engage with Dupont’s compositions beyond the recording itself.
Presented without an interval, the concert concluded with an informal gathering where audience members could meet Melkonian and Lefèvre, discuss the performance and exchange impressions directly with the artists.
