If you’re heading off on holiday via Nice Côte d’Azur Airport this weekend, a little extra planning could make all the difference. In an official press release, the airport is advising passengers to expect heavier-than-usual traffic both on the roads approaching the terminals and inside the airport, as one of the busiest weekends of the summer holiday season gets underway…
With more than 60,000 passengers expected to pass through the airport each day over the weekend, well above the usual summer average, queues are likely to be longer and journey times slower, making for an exceptionally busy few days on the Côte d’Azur.
Motorists should also be aware that congestion is expected on the A8 motorway, with Vinci Autoroutes issuing its own heavy traffic warning. Airport officials recommend allowing plenty of extra time to reach the terminal, complete check-in and pass through security. If practical, travelling by tram or bus could help avoid some of the delays.
If, however, you do end up crawling along in holiday traffic, there’s no need to let it spoil the mood. Download your favourite playlist or podcast before you leave, pack plenty of water and a few healthy snacks, and think of the journey as the first chapter of your holiday. This season almost has its own pace, its own rhythm and its own laidback vibe; that’s why they call it Summertime.
