Monaco has taken a major diplomatic step with the appointment of its first ever ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, marking a significant milestone in relations between the Principality and the Gulf region…

This week, Evelyne Genta formally presented her credentials to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, becoming Monaco’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.

This historic appointment reflects Monaco’s intention to deepen its strategic partnership with a nation that has become an essential global hub for business, culture and innovation. The UAE and Monaco share common traits as small yet highly influential states, with strong interests in luxury sectors, tourism, finance and sustainable development. Establishing a permanent ambassadorial presence underscores Monaco’s long-term commitment to building closer ties in the region.

Ambassador Genta’s mission will focus on strengthening cooperation across a wide range of fields, from economic exchange and investment to cultural initiatives and environmental projects. Both countries have shown strong leadership on sustainability and technological innovation, offering fertile ground for joint initiatives in areas such as clean energy and climate action.

By creating this new diplomatic post, Monaco positions itself to engage more effectively not only with the UAE but with the wider Gulf Cooperation Council, opening the door to expanded partnerships and new opportunities for collaboration.
