The long-awaited renovation of Monaco’s Stade Louis-II has officially begun, and one of its most visible upgrades will soon start taking shape, a complete replacement of the stadium’s seating.
The suspense over the new colour scheme ended during a public session of the National Council, when Minister of State Christophe Mirmand announced that the Sovereign Prince had chosen a striking red-and-white mosaic design for the stands. The layout will feature a gradient effect within the red sections, creating a modern visual identity while paying tribute to Monaco’s national colours.
In another major change, the seating in the popular stands and general admission areas will be retractable. This flexible design will allow spectators to stand during football matches, echoing the atmosphere of traditional supporter sections, or sit during other sporting events, such as the prestigious Herculis athletics meet.
Installation of the new seats will be carried out in stages, aligned with the overall renovation schedule, and is expected to be completed by May 2027. The project marks a new chapter for Stade Louis-II, blending functionality, comfort, and the Principality’s trademark elegance.
