Fight Aids Monaco is stepping up its support for vulnerable communities in Madagascar, where rising HIV infections and difficulties accessing healthcare are placing increasing pressure on local organisations…
According to a Monaco Info report, the Malagasy association SISAL, supported by Fight Aids Monaco and Monaco’s Directorate of International Cooperation, is working to improve HIV prevention, testing and treatment.
The situation is increasingly concerning. Recorded cases reportedly rose from approximately 15,000 in 2023 to 36,000 in 2025, whilst UNAIDS modelling suggests that as many as 60,000 people could be living with HIV across Madagascar.

Limited public awareness, social stigma and poor access to medical services, particularly in rural areas, remain significant obstacles to controlling the epidemic. Monaco’s assistance extends beyond financial contributions, with practical support, professional expertise and initiatives designed to help beneficiaries rebuild their lives.
One young woman receiving assistance from SISAL is pursuing university studies in psychology, hoping eventually to support other young people and families facing similar difficulties.
The partnership also addresses wider healthcare needs, including a recent distribution of dental hygiene kits to beneficiaries. For Fight Aids Monaco, the objective is not simply to improve access to treatment, but to provide lasting support and greater independence for those affected.
