With the winter transfer window nearing its close, AS Monaco is actively searching for midfield reinforcements and has set its sights on former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, currently playing for Ajax Amsterdam. According to reports from RMC Sport, the Principality club is looking to finalise the move swiftly following the collapse of Éric Junior Dina Ebimbe’s transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt due to a failed medical.

Monaco, struggling in recent weeks with just two wins in seven matches in 2025, is eager to bolster its midfield as it prepares for a crucial Champions League play-off against either Paris Saint-Germain or Benfica Lisbon. Henderson, who has played 31 matches for Ajax this season after a short-lived stint in Saudi Arabia, is reportedly open to a move to the Ligue 1 side.

Should the deal go through, the 34-year-old English midfielder is unlikely to be available for Monaco’s upcoming fixture against Auxerre but could make his debut in the high-stakes clash against PSG at the Parc des Princes on Friday, February 7. With Monaco seeking experience and leadership in the midfield, Henderson’s arrival could be a key addition as the club pushes for success in both domestic and European competitions.
