In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Princess Grace Irish Library, the Postage Stamp Issuing Office in Monaco will release a special edition stamp on September 4.

The Princess Grace Irish Library, a cultural treasure of Monaco, was inaugurated on November 20, 1984, by Prince Rainier III in honour of his late wife, Princess Grace, and her cherished Irish heritage. Managed by the Princess Grace of Monaco Foundation, the library is renowned for its collection of English-language books, works by Irish writers, and historical reference materials. It also houses a collection of Princess Grace’s sheet music and books, all with ties to the Emerald Isle.

This commemorative stamp release highlights the significance of the library as a cultural institution and celebrates its four decades of promoting Irish literature and heritage in Monaco. A total of 40,000 copies will be printed and sold at the Musée des Timbres et des Monnaies, local post offices, and the Carré d’Encre in Paris.
