In their second pre-season friendly, AS Monaco secured a 1-1 draw against Cercle Bruges at the Performance Centre on Saturday morning. The match, watched by President Dmitry Rybolovlev and leaders of both clubs, served as a strong preparation for the Red and Whites before their upcoming training camp in Austria.
The game started energetically, with Monaco’s goalkeeper Yann Lienard making a crucial save in the first minute. Although Myron Boadu’s goal was disallowed shortly after, Cercle Bruges took the lead with a penalty converted by Kevin Denkey in the 10th minute.
Monaco quickly responded with a header from Thilo Kehrer off an Edan Diop corner, equalizing the score at 1-1 just two minutes later. The first half saw further chances for both sides, including a shot from Boadu hitting the post.
The second half featured several substitutions, giving Academy players like Bradel Kiwa a chance to debut. Both teams had opportunities to break the deadlock, but the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Adi Hütter’s squad now heads to Austria for an intensive week of training, in continuation of their pre-season preparations.
