With the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the death of Ayrton Senna fully underway in 2024, it was only right for McLaren to reveal a very special livery inspired by the helmet of the late Brazilian driver, also known as the ‘Master of Monaco’.

The Woking-based team will make the most of yellow, blue and green to commemorate their most successful ever driver. Besides the colours, the livery also sees some famous Senna quotes written inside the cockpit, and the three-time World Champion’s name on the front and rear wings.

Senna won the Monaco GP a record number of six times, and five times in a row with McLaren between 1989 and 1993, before his untimely passing before the race in the Principality in 1994. Of his 41 victories in Formula 1, 35 were achieved with McLaren, and its team principal at the time, Ron Dennis.

Dennis’ successor Zak Brown said “The team is proud to salute and celebrate the extraordinary life and sporting legacy of Ayrton Senna through this McLaren livery. Senna remains revered and respected as Formula 1’s greatest icon, and McLaren’s most successful driver.”

His impact on McLaren is enormous, not only through his record, but also through his presence within the team, and now through his legacy. So it is an honour to race for him at the circuit where he experienced his best. more successful, in its green, yellow and blue colours.”
