Scuderia Ferrari unveiled their 2024 Formula 1 season challenger, appropriately named the SF-24, on Tuesday, February 13. The Scuderia hope their “completely new” car will pose more of a threat in the upcoming season, having slipped from second to third in the constructors standings late in the 2023 campaign with the SF-23.

The Maranello based team revealed the car to the tifosi in a flashy video featuring the Ferrari marque’s emblematic founder, Enzo Ferrari. Watch below:

“Every area of the car has been redesigned,” said Ferrari chassis technical director Enrico Cardile, while the team boss, Fred Vasseur confirmed late last year that the 2024 car would feature “95% new components.”

However, the matter of appearance is much more subjective, although many F1 fans are impressed with the refreshed and unsurprisingly red livery of the SF-24.

Speaking at the launch of the new car, although not so much about the new car, Vasseur said “this year, we must start off where we left off at the end of last season, when we were consistent front runners, with a view to constantly improving in all areas.

The longest ever Formula 1 season awaits us and Charles, Carlos and I all agree, we must be more clinical and effective in how we manage the races, making bold choices, in order to get the best possible result at every Grand Prix,” the boss continued.

The reveal of the SF-24 comes 12 days after the blockbuster announcement of Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari in 2025, making this the last prancing horse that Carlos Sainz will race in red. Monaco’s own Charles Leclerc is safe in his seat for several seasons to come.

Ferrari have confirmed that the SF-24 will make an initial track outing “for filming, photographic, marketing and communications purposes” ahead of pre-season testing at the Bahrain International Circuit from Wednesday, February 21 until 23, before the F1 season kicks off with the Bahrain Grand Prix on Saturday, March 2.
