After many months of planning and practice, TVMonaco launches at 19:15 on Friday, September 1.
Programming will consist of live news and sports with recorded programming for the rest of the day. Content will initially consist of unscripted programming, but there are plans to add scripted programming within 12 to 18 months from launch. Emphasis is also given to environmental concerns and wildlife in Monaco. The channel will be available in both linear and digital platforms, Wikipedia tells us.
Funding will be from the Monegasque state, while additional revenue will come from advertising. Content will be entirely in French and through TV5Monde the channel will be available in 200 countries.
The CEO/Executive director is Salim Zeghdar, who already occupies other important posts in the Principality, while Nathalie Biancolli will be the hands-on Deputy CEO.
The station was due to launch in September 2022 with the name Monte-Carlo Riviera TV but the birth of the station was delayed by a year and its name changed.
Perhaps most remarkable of all is the fact that the station will see the light of day with a staff of 48.
