AS Monaco suffered another serious loss in France’s Ligue 1 on Saturday, September 11, with a 0-2 defeat at home to Marseille.

Marseille’s Bamba Dieng scored his first two goals in the Ligue, in the 37th and 60th minutes.

Monaco have won only one of their five games in the French league since the start of the season and now

ASM coach Niko Kovic had said on Friday: “Playing against OM, a great team that had a successful start to the season, will give us the opportunity to be focused from the start. The important thing is to start off with a victory. It will be difficult for us to dominate over the 90 minutes, as we have sometimes done in our previous matches, because Marseille are at the same level as us. It will be a very intense game, spectacular for the fans to see, and that’s what I love about it. Everything is in order for a thrilling match.”

After Saturday’s disastrous performance, Monaco now stand in 14th position in the league. Monaco’s next game is at home on Thursday, September 16, against Graz in the European League.
