After AS Monaco’s victory away against Angers SCO on Sunday, April 25 the Principality’s midfielder, Aleksandr Golovin has tested positive for coronavirus.

Golovin is the sixth AS Monaco player to have tested for coronavirus in the space of the last month alone. The Russian midfielder will join Gelson Martins in self-isolating, and as a result of that will also miss Monaco’s fixture against Lyon on Sunday, May 2.

In addition to those affected by coronavirus, Monaco will also go without Stevan Jovetić and Sofiane Diop, who are both recovering from injuries.

The recent spread of coronavirus will no doubt be a thorn in head coach Niko Kovac’s side, as Monaco enter the final sprint of the race for the Ligue 1 title.
