AS Monaco lost 0-3 at home to Lens on Wednesday evening in a game that was a disaster from start to finish. The visitors scored in the very first minute and it was all downhill from there.

it’s difficult to isolate the most catastrophic part of the night, but the strongest candidate has to be the red card collected by Axel Disasi in the 23rd minute. This left the Monaco defence wide open to attack, and that’s just what Lens did, with a goal from Banza in the 33rd minute followed six minutes later by the third of the night from Kakuta.

Monaco regained some composure in the second half, otherwise the scoreline would have been indescribably bad.

Of the six yellow cards of the evening, four went to Lens, who dominated in every other respect, too. Most tellingly, the visitors had 63 percent of possession of the ball.

Surely, there has to be a reckoning after Wednesday night. How could a side that beat PSG just a few weeks ago fall so dismally to pieces? Lots of questions, but perhaps no easy answers for a now-struggling AS Monaco.

The next game is set for Sunday, December 20, away to Dijon. Will it be yet another debacle?
