For quite a long time – until the 70th minute – it looked as if AS Monaco were going to lose at home to Montpellier on Sunday afternoon.

However, thanks to Wissam Ben Yedder’s goal 20 minutes from the final whistle, the home side managed to keep the feisty visitors to a 1-1 draw.

Both the goals came in the second half, with Stephy Mavididi scoring for the visitors in the 51st minute. The only real excitement in the first half was a red card to Teji Sanaier, awarded in the 19th minute.

Niko Kovac said that his side had dominated the game, but lost points. “In football, thats what matters,” he said. He added that ASM were “enormously frustrated because we had to win this match. We have to raise our heads for the next game.”

He also said that while the team is defending very well, it has to improve its attack.
