Monaco’s big athletics event, Herculis EBS, will be postponed, not cancelled, the organisers said on Tuesday, May 12. Instead of taking place as planned on July 10, the meeting will be held on August 14, offering the many world-class athletes the opportunity to compete again after months of lockdown worldwide.

HSH Prince Albert, President of the Monegasque Athletics Federation, said: “Dear friends of Herculis, The current circumstances lead us, as you could have foreseen, to give up holding our Herculis EBS 2020 meeting on July 10. But we are determined to see the athletes who can, deprived of competition since the start of the season, join us at Monaco later in the summer.

“On May 12, the Diamond League will publish the modified 2020 meeting calendar and Monaco will appear on Friday August 14, with the support of World Athletics and in full agreement with the services of my Government.

“We will of course hold this meeting in compliance with the rules of health prudence which will be applicable during this period. I hope that you will be able to join us, many of you, or take part through the televised broadcast.”

Tickets already sold will be postponed to August 14, 2020 or refunded according to a procedure which will be communicated on the website www.herculis.com. The 1,000 metre race competition, which is held each year as a preamble to the Herculis EBS Meeting, is cancelled.
