Barclays has officially appointed Olivier Franceschelli as Chief Executive Officer of its Private Bank operations in Monaco, confirming him in the role after several months serving in an interim capacity.

Franceschelli had been leading the Monaco business on a temporary basis since September 2025, during which time he oversaw efforts to strengthen the bank’s local offering and reinforce its client-focused strategy in the Principality. He first joined Barclays in May 2020.

In his new role, Franceschelli will be responsible for continuing to develop Barclays’ private banking activities in Monaco, focusing on expanding relationships with high-net-worth clients while supporting the long-term growth of the firm in one of Europe’s most established wealth management hubs.

Annabelle Bryde, Head of Barclays Private Bank International, welcomed the appointment and praised Franceschelli’s leadership since taking on the interim position. She noted that his deep understanding of the business and commitment to client service make him well suited to lead the Monaco franchise going forward.

Barclays has a long-standing presence in the Principality. The bank first established operations in Monaco in 1922, becoming the first foreign wealth management institution to set up in the city’s prestigious Golden Square district.

Today, the Monaco office provides a full range of private banking services, offering tailored investment strategies, banking services and lending solutions designed for international clients and ultra-high-net-worth individuals who live or invest in the Principality.
