The Monegasque Institute of Sports Medicine and Surgery (IM2S) has marked two decades of activity, celebrating a journey that has seen the clinic evolve into a cornerstone of specialist care in the Principality…

Inaugurated in December 2005, the centre was created to deliver high-level orthopaedic and trauma care for athletes, while also strengthening Monaco’s wider medical ecosystem alongside the Princess Grace Hospital.

Today, IM2S brings together more than 40 specialists working across orthopaedic surgery, sports medicine, imaging and emergency consultations. Its model combines rapid diagnosis, multidisciplinary collaboration and access to advanced medical technology, enabling the clinic to manage both elite sports injuries and everyday trauma cases for residents and patients from neighbouring regions.

One of the most significant milestones in its recent development has been the introduction of robotic surgery, expanding the scope for minimally invasive procedures and faster patient recovery. The investment reflects a broader commitment to keeping Monaco at the forefront of medical innovation while maintaining a high standard of personalised care.

Activity levels continue to rise, particularly in same-day orthopaedic consultations, as demand grows for fast, specialised assessment and treatment. Recruitment of additional surgeons and ongoing equipment upgrades are expected to support further expansion over the coming years.

As IM2S enters its third decade, its leadership remains focused on balancing innovation with accessibility, ensuring that advanced medical expertise continues to benefit both the Principality’s residents and the wider regional population, reinforcing Monaco’s reputation for clinical excellence and modern healthcare infrastructure.
