Monaco marked an important step in healthcare on Wednesday, October 1 with the official launch of Médecins de Garde Monaco, a new night-time on-call doctor service designed to improve access to care across the Principality.

The initiative, created with the support of local doctors and under the leadership of the Princely Government, will provide home consultations for non-urgent cases between 19:00 and 07:00, every day of the year. Residents requiring assistance can contact the service directly by dialling 116 117.

To mark the launch, a ceremony was held for the handover of an electric vehicle donated by Jean-Marc Porceddu, which will be used by the doctors on duty. The event was attended by Minister of State Christophe Mirmand and Christophe Robino, Minister of Health and Social Affairs.

Operated by the non-profit organisation Médecins de Garde Monaco, the service complements the daytime coverage already provided by local practices, ensuring that residents have uninterrupted access to medical support around the clock.

Health Minister Christophe Robino welcomed the launch, saying it responds to “a strong expectation from the population: to be able to benefit from rapid medical care at night.” He added that the creation of Médecins de Garde Monaco “marks a new step forward in terms of public health policy and quality of service in the Principality.”
