The Literary Council of the Prince Pierre Foundation gathered at the Ritz Paris this week to determine the official selections for the foundation’s prestigious 2026 Literary Prize and Discovery Grant…

Held annually in Paris, the meeting brought together members of the French Academy, representatives of the Goncourt Academy and leading Francophone writers under the presidency of Princess Caroline of Hanover, who chairs both the foundation and its literary council.

The Literary Prize honours an author for their entire body of work, while the Discovery Grant recognises a Francophone writer for a debut work of fiction. Council members described the selection process as both rewarding and emotionally difficult due to the high standard of submissions received each year.

The shortlisted authors for the Literary Prize, announced in alphabetical order, are Élisabeth Barille, Michel Bernard, Daniel Pennac and Marius Daniel Popescu.

The winners will be officially announced during the Prince Pierre Foundation awards ceremony in October 2026 at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo.
