Two Tunisian brothers living in Menton have been sentenced by Monaco’s criminal court to 30 months in prison after a series of scooter thefts across the Principality…
The men were found guilty of stealing five Piaggio scooters, handling stolen property and criminal association, with offences committed between late January and mid-April 2026. In addition to their prison terms, both received a 10-year ban from entering Monaco.
As reported by Monaco Matin, investigators identified a consistent pattern in the thefts, with two individuals arriving by scooter from the Beausoleil side of the border. One acted as a lookout while the other used tools to break locks and remove the targeted vehicles, before both left the scene separately. CCTV analysis played a key role in linking the incidents, helping police track a scooter previously stolen in Nice and identify clothing, tools and physical characteristics.
The pair were arrested on April 14 after being spotted by police already alerted to their description. Officers recovered tools, helmets and a stolen licence plate matching items seen on surveillance footage. Phone analysis later revealed searches for scooter resale values and images of similar models. Despite partial denials in court, the judges found sufficient evidence to convict, reinforcing Monaco’s strict stance on property crime.
