Monaco marked the Chinese New Year with a vibrant gala evening held at the Fairmont Monte Carlo, celebrating the Year of the Wood Snake and commemorating 30 years of diplomatic relations between the Principality and China…

Organized by the Monaco-China Association, the event brought together members of Monaco’s Chinese community, local dignitaries, and cultural enthusiasts in a spirit of unity and friendship.

The festivities showcased the rich heritage of Chinese culture through captivating performances, workshops, and culinary delights. Guests enjoyed demonstrations of traditional Chinese spirits, artistic displays, and cultural presentations, including a performance by local students learning Chinese. Attendees were treated to a colourful evening filled with symbolic red and gold decor, traditional music, and cultural exchanges.

Marie-Pascale Boisson, Monaco’s Ambassador to China, emphasized the significance of these diplomatic ties, noting that since their establishment on January 16, 1995, relations between Monaco and China have flourished across trade, tourism, the environment, and education. She highlighted initiatives such as the Prince Albert II Foundation’s environmental collaborations in China and scholarships for Chinese students at Peking University.

The evening also served as a platform to reflect on the shared ambitions of Monaco and China to strengthen cooperation. Future projects include economic missions and greater participation in international exhibitions, further cementing the enduring relationship between the two nations. With a blend of cultural pride and diplomatic progress, the gala exemplified the harmony between Monaco and China, setting the tone for a prosperous year ahead.
