On Sunday, November 10, 2024, members of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Monte-Carlo honoured the memory of British and Commonwealth combatants who served in two world wars with a solemn ceremony at the Winston Churchill statue on Avenue de Grande-Bretagne…
The service, held by the bust of the wartime leader, paid tribute to Churchill’s significant legacy and his connection to Monaco. From 1945, Churchill frequently visited Monte-Carlo, often staying at the iconic Hôtel de Paris. In the 1960s, as a guest of his friend Aristotle Onassis, Churchill occupied the top-floor suite of the hotel, which now bears his name.
Following the ceremony, participants returned to St. Paul’s Anglican Church for a special Remembrance Sunday service. The moving event brought together the congregation in reflection and prayer, marking a poignant moment to honour the sacrifices of those who fought for freedom.
This annual observance underscores Monaco’s enduring ties to its British and Commonwealth residents and the shared commitment to preserving the legacy of those who served.
