The Southern Region and the Principality of Monaco have successfully negotiated a revised plan for the upcoming railway works on the Nice-Ventimiglia line, scheduled from September 15, to June 26, 2025. The agreement was reached during a meeting attended by Céline Caron-Dagioni, Monaco’s Minister of Equipment, Environment, and Urban Planning, Jean-Pierre Serrus, Vice-President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region in charge of transport and sustainable mobility, along with representatives from SNCF Voyageurs, SNCF Réseau, and regional and Monegasque services.

The collaboration between Monaco and the Southern Region aimed to address concerns over the initial work and substitution plans proposed by SNCF, seeking adjustments to ensure that the plans better align with the needs of passengers and meet the expectations of the Principality.

Previous meetings on Friday, September 13 and Monday, September 16 had already secured a brief delay in the start of the work and led to the cancellation of scheduled work on the evening of the Champions League match between AS Monaco and FC Barcelona on Thursday, September 19.

The latest discussions resulted in several key modifications to the rail work plan. Train services will now operate until 22:00, extended from the initially planned 21:00 Additionally, rail work will be suspended on evenings when matches start at 21:00, with morning work extended to avoid affecting the original transport schedule.

Both Monaco and the Southern Region expressed satisfaction with these significant developments, which will allow the necessary modernisation of the Nice-Ventimiglia rail line to proceed while maintaining a service that closely meets the needs of users and Monegasque authorities.
