HSH Prince Albert, a passionate sports fan, shared his reflections on the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with Monaco Info. Attending numerous events, including athletics, basketball, volleyball, judo, and swimming, the Prince offered high praise for the competition as it approached its conclusion.
“These are very beautiful Games,” he remarked, acknowledging initial concerns but celebrating the event’s ultimate success. He highlighted the “extraordinary state of mind” and “incredible enthusiasm” of the public, which he believes will energize both French sports and the broader Olympic movement.
Discussing the Monegasque delegation, which included three female and three male athletes, the sovereign expressed a wish for slightly better results, though he emphasized that medals were not the primary focus. “The Olympic Games are a competition apart, a festival of sport, and of course, it goes well beyond that,” he said.
Despite the absence of medals, Prince Albert also expressed pride in the athletes representing Monaco, stating, “They did honour to the Principality.”
