To conclude the seventh edition of the International Rose Competition, and celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Princess Grace Rose Garden, a festive day was organised by the Prince’s Government and the Association of Friends of the Rose Garden on Wednesday, June 19.
Activities included a rose bush sale benefiting the Princess Grace Foundation, the unveiling of a collective artwork creation with Mr One Teas, an exhibition of Tony Szabo’s watercolours, a treasure hunt, guided tours, and an awards ceremony featuring traditional Monegasque songs and jazz.

The International Rose Competition jury this year awarded French breeder Eve Rateau with four prestigious prizes. Eve Rateau received the Piaget Rose Trophy and the Perfume Cup for the ‘JEAN CARLES® EVEpiweet rose’, as well as the Favourite of the Friends of the Princess Grace Rose Garden and the gold medal for the ‘MADAME® EVEvilady rose’.
The competition, held in the Princess Grace Rose Garden and on the Prince’s Government’s social media, also featured the Public Prize, which garnered nearly a thousand votes. In the end, the ‘Romaneche la montagne®’ rose by breeder Marie-Françoise Dorieux won the most votes in the multiple flower category.
HSH Prince Albert and HRH the Princess of Hanover were present on the day, in which Mr. Yves Piaget, President of the Association of Friends of the Roseraie, paid tribute to Princess Grace and Prince Rainier III, who respectively inspired and initiated the garden’s creation.
