The powers that be at AS Monaco have decided to exercise the purchase option in Thilo Kehrer’s loan contract, as the German international has clearly impressed in his short spell with the Principality side.

Central defender Kehrer arrived to Monaco from English Premier League side West Ham in January this year, and will now remain in red and white for a further four seasons, until June, 2028.

Kehrer certainly contributed to what became a successful season for Monaco, remaining undefeated for eight matches out of 14 and keeping clean sheets against the likes of Paris SG and Lille on the way to second place in Ligue 1 and a return to UEFA Champions League football.

The Tübingen native knows European competitions well, having won the Conference League with West Ham last season and played in the Champions League final with Paris in 2020.

Speaking about his new contract with the club, Kehrer said “I am very happy and proud to continue the adventure with AS Monaco. When I arrived in January, I was very well received by my teammates and staff, club staff and supporters. We have already experienced a lot of good moments, like this second place which guarantees a place in the Champions League next season, and I hope to experience many more in this jersey!”
