The sudden death of local leader Albert Croesi sent shockwaves through the Monegasque community on Saturday. Mr Croesi, 62, had suffered a fatal heart attack during the night of Friday-Saturday.

Mr Croesi had been particularly prominent in recent years as the Managing Director of Monaco Inter Expo, spearheading the Monaco pavilion at the most recent Universal Exhibition, in Dubai, and had been working on the next major international showcase for Monaco, the Universal Exhibition in 2025, in Osaka, Japan.

He took a leading role in the recent community celebrations on the Rock of the Centenary of Prince Rainier III. He had also been placed in charge of the 4th Grimaldi Historical Sites Meeting on June 10 and 11.

HE Minister of State Pierre Dartout issued a statement on Saturday expressing both sadness and appreciation: “It is with great sadness that we learned of the sudden passing of Albert Croesi. On behalf of the Prince’s Government, I would like to express my most sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. We already miss his generosity, his benevolence and the energy with which he undertook all the projects entrusted to him.”
