A Monaco resident, aged 86, has died from coronavirus, the Government said on Tuesday, January 4, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 40. It is the second reported death so far this year. A 73 year-old resident died on New Year’s Day.

In addition, 108 tests proved positive during the most recent 24-hour reporting period. Seventy-one residents were declared fully-recovered.

The number of patients being treated for coronavirus at Princess Grace Hospital has risen to 45, including 19 residents. One of the residents is in intensive care.

Due to the large number of recoveries reported, the number of residents with mild symptoms recovering at home has fallen to 327.

The Government once again reminded residents that the best protection against the virus is vaccination.
