The funeral mass for the two Monaco firefighter victims of a tragic road accident took place at the Cathedral of Monaco on Wednesday, September 8. Senior representatives of the Monaco authorities attended the service, which was conducted by Mgr Guillaume Paris.

The two men, Sergeant Stephan Hertier (42) and firefighter Matis Canavese (22), were killed when a driver of a utility vehicle coming in the opposite direction crossed the white line on a gentle bend on a country road above Nice. Two other firefighters were injured in the collision.

The driver was reported to be driving under the influence of drugs. He is under investigation for involuntary homicide.
