Monaco residents who wish to visit Liguria on short trips can now do so without the need for a PCR or antigen test.
Visitors must live within 60 kilometres of their destination, easily bringing Ventimiglia and Bordighera within reach. Trips must be for less than 24 hours.
The announcement of the long-awaited change was made on Wednesday by Gaetano Scullino, mayor of Ventimiglia, and comes into effect immediately.
The move will come as a considerable relief for Ligurian businesses that depend on cross-border business.
As of June 1, indoor restaurant service is allowed with a limit of four per table, unless family members living together.
