Monaco resident and serial entrepreneur Flavio Briatore has been admitted to hospital in Milan after testing positive for coronavirus, according to multiple Italian press reports.

He was said to be in serious condition but not in intensive care.

The flamboyant Briatore (70), owner of the Twiga and Billionaire Club chains, has recently been in the news for criticising officials who called for the closure of nightclubs in Italy. In recent days more than 50 employees at his Billionaire club in Porto Cervo have tested positive for the virus.

He recently posted on Facebook: “My heart weeps to see an economy slaughtered by people who have never done anything in their lives.”
