From the morning of Wednesday, August 12, face masks must be worn in a number of crowded places in Monaco. Masks will be compulsory on Place du Palais, in the alleys of Monaco-Ville, on Place du Casino and on the walkway alongside the Fontvieille shopping centre.
The measure was introduced by ministerial decree and is aimed at reducing the circulation of coronavirus in the Principality, especially as more tourists are visiting.
Most recent cases of coronavirus have been found in residents returning to the Principality from abroad.
The measure echoes those taken in a number of French cities in recent days.
