Lionel Galfré, the former director of the Monegasque Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Imsee), is to take the helm of MonacoTech on January 13 and is likely to take the successful startup incubator in a new direction.
MonacoTech was created in 2017 by the Government and Monaco Telecom, with the expertise of Xavier Niel.
The outgoing director, Fabrice Marquet, is leaving to pursue his own interests, according to a press release.
“This Monegasque with a full professional career has experience abroad and in Monaco, in structures with a very diverse cultures, private and public, and in commercial and development functions. Curious, open, Lionel Galfré puts his listening skills and recognized expertise in strategy and business development at the service of startups. His priorities: strengthen the support program for hosted startups, launch a call for new projects, and work with all private and public partners in order to place MonacoTech in a dynamic ecosystem favourable to the development of innovation in the Principality,” the press release said.
