BA flights to and from Nice were cancelled on Wednesday, August 7, due to computer problems at the airline. An estimated 500 flights from Heathrow and Gatwick were affected, either cancelled or delayed, due to the glitch, which resulted in passenger information being handled without IT assistance.

BA said: “We apologise to all our customers caught up in the disruption, and appreciate how frustrating their experience has been. Our teams have been working tirelessly to get the vast majority of customers on their way, with most of our flights departing.”

Further disruption in travel to and from London can be expected later this summer, with BA pilots set to strike and ground-handling and security staff at Heathrow threatening to walk off the job on August 22 and 23 if talks with management over pay rates are not successful.
