His Serene Highness Prince Albert II has been Sovereign Prince of Monaco since 6 April 2005, succeeding his father, Prince Rainier III. Born on 14 March 1958, the son of Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace, HSH Prince Albert II competed in five Winter Olympics as a bobsledder and in 2006 created the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, dedicated to protecting the environment. He married HSH Princess Charlène in July 2011, and they are the parents of the twins Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, born on 10 December 2014.
