Port Hercule will transform into a celebration of Italian automotive nostalgia on Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19, as the Principality welcomes dozens of classic Fiat 500s from across Europe for the sixth Monaco International Meeting of Historic Fiat 500s. Organised by the Club Fiat 500 Monte-Carlo, the gathering has become an annual tradition drawing enthusiasts, families and curious onlookers into a lively, multi-generational atmosphere.
This year’s edition is themed around the 1970s, a decade the organisers describe as defined by freedom and creativity. Flared trousers, bold prints and vintage sunglasses will set the tone for a weekend blending motoring culture, music and nostalgia. On Saturday evening, a free concert by ABBA tribute act ABBA Time will bring the era’s biggest hits back to life, turning Quai Albert Ier into an open-air dance floor.
The event also marks the Fiat 500’s 90th anniversary, tracing its lineage from the original 1936 “Topolino” through to the version that captured hearts worldwide in the 1950s. Organisers describe the car as an enduring icon of Italian Dolce Vita culture, one they say pairs naturally with Monaco’s own sense of elegance.
The weekend programme opens on Saturday, July 18, with a scenic drive along the roads of the Monte-Carlo Rally, a visit to Prince Albert II’s private car collection, and the evening ABBA tribute concert. Sunday, July 19, brings activities and games for children and adults alike, a visit to the “Monaco & l’Automobile” exhibition at the Grimaldi Forum, a parade through the streets of the Principality, and the meeting’s closing awards ceremony.
Massimo Peleson, president of the Club Fiat 500 Monte-Carlo, said organising an event of this scale in Monaco is a challenge every year, but also a source of real pride, adding that his team works with passion to keep alive an event that has become part of the Principality’s cultural and automotive heritage.
More than simply a gathering of vintage cars, the weekend is being framed as a celebration of memory and community, offering visitors a chance to step back into the spirit of the 1970s, honour an automotive icon, and soak in Monaco’s own take on la dolce vita, set against the backdrop of yachts and sea at Port Hercule.
The event takes place at Quai Albert Ier, Port Hercule, on July 18 and 19. Registration and further details are available via the Club Fiat 500 Monte-Carlo’s website.
