The Academy of the Sea, Monaco’s maritime training initiative, has launched its second international session, this time in Tunisia, almost a year after its first programme abroad in Morocco…

Hosted at a business school near Tunis, the three-day session brings together students, academics and professionals to explore key challenges facing the world’s seas and oceans.

Designed as a “window onto the Mediterranean,” the programme focuses on major themes including the blue economy, sustainable development and the law of the sea. Its multidisciplinary approach draws participants from a range of institutions, including business schools, legal faculties and marine science institutes, encouraging dialogue across sectors.

The initiative reflects the Academy of the Sea’s broader ambition to combine its Monaco-based summer school with international training sessions developed in partnership with leading local institutions. Delivered in French, the programme also supports Monaco’s commitment to promoting the language and its associated values on the international stage.

By fostering exchange between students and industry experts, the training offers a comprehensive understanding of maritime issues while strengthening regional cooperation. With this second session abroad, the Academy of the Sea continues to expand its reach, reinforcing Monaco’s role in advancing education and awareness around ocean governance and sustainability.
