Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene travelled to Paris this weekend to attend the Provale Solidarity charity gala, an event dedicated to supporting rugby players facing hardship after their careers…

The evening brought together leading figures from French and international rugby for the second edition of the fundraising initiative organised by Provale, the national union representing professional rugby players.

Created in 2023, the Provale Solidarity fund aims to provide assistance to former players who encounter financial, medical or social difficulties once their time in the sport comes to an end. Rugby careers are often short, and the transition to life after professional competition can be challenging for many athletes.

Princess Charlene, who serves as President of the Monegasque Rugby Federation, addressed guests during the evening. As a former elite athlete, she highlighted the importance of solidarity within the sporting community and the need to support players during more vulnerable moments in their lives. The Princely Couple’s presence at the gala underscored Monaco’s commitment to promoting the values of sport, teamwork and mutual support.

The event also reflected the wider mission of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, which works internationally to promote sport as a tool for education, health and social inclusion.

A charity auction formed one of the highlights of the evening, featuring works of art as well as rare items linked to rugby history. The fundraising effort exceeded expectations, with nearly €124,000 raised, significantly more than the €74,000 generated during the gala’s inaugural edition last year.
