The Roca Team continued their dominant run in the Betclic Elite on the evening of Sunday, January 25 with a convincing 98–73 victory away to Saint-Quentin, recording an eighth consecutive league win and preserving their unbeaten away record in domestic competition.
Despite the demands of a recent EuroLeague double-header, the AS Monaco Basket delivered a composed and authoritative performance in Picardy. Head coach Vassilis Spanoulis opted to rest Elie Okobo and Nikola Mirotic, while Yoan Makoundou remained unavailable, yet Monaco’s depth and cohesion were evident throughout.
The visitors set the tone early through Alpha Diallo, whose scoring from long range kept Monaco level in the opening moments before their defensive intensity began to tell. Once turnovers were forced and fast breaks converted, the Roca Team quickly created separation, building a double-digit advantage before the end of the first quarter.
Monaco’s control became more pronounced in the second period, as Nemanja Nedovic and Terry Tarpey sparked a decisive run with a series of three-pointers. Crisp ball movement and efficient shot selection allowed the visitors to steadily stretch the lead, heading into halftime firmly in command at 59–41.
After the break, Monaco showed no signs of easing off. Tarpey struck again from beyond the arc, while Mike James dictated the tempo, combining effectively with Daniel Theis in the pick-and-roll and finding Kevarrius Hayes for emphatic finishes inside. Nedovic added further scoring punch from long range, pushing the margin beyond 20 points by the end of the third quarter.
With the outcome effectively settled, Monaco closed out the contest with professionalism. Contributions from Matthew Strazel and Juhann Begarin highlighted the squad’s depth, while sustained defensive focus ensured Saint-Quentin were never allowed back into the game. The final margin reflected Monaco’s superiority on both ends of the court.
The result keeps Monaco top of the Betclic Elite standings and reinforces their status as one of the most consistent and well-balanced teams in French basketball this season.
