World-famous Riverdance star Michael Flatley will seek nomination as a candidate to become Ireland’s next president, according to a lawyer representing him in a court case in Dublin.
The High Court proceedings relate to works carried out at Mr Flatley’s mansion in County Cork.
Barrister Ronnie Hudson said there had been “a material change in circumstances” for Mr Flatley, who is planning to return to Ireland within the next 14 days.
The Lord of the Dance star had previously hinted at a presidential bid, but said a final decision was still to be taken.
During a radio interview he said that somebody has to speak for the Irish people, in “a true proper deep voice that speaks their language.”
The second seven-year term of the outgoing President, Michael D Higgins, ends on November 11.
