Monaco’s Embassy in Spain hosted a reception this week to celebrate two decades since His Serene Highness Prince Albert II ascended to the throne — a milestone marked with diplomatic flair, warm tributes, and a nod to the Principality’s enduring ties with Spain.
The event, held in keeping with tradition, brought together around 200 guests, including Spanish government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, Monaco’s honorary consuls in Spain, and a variety of Spanish cultural figures and artists.
In her address, Monaco’s Ambassador to Spain reflected on the highlights of HSH Prince Albert II’s 20-year reign, emphasising his global leadership on environmental protection and international development. She praised the Sovereign’s tireless efforts to position the Principality as a key player on the world stage, particularly in the fight against climate change and through humanitarian initiatives.
The Ambassador also highlighted the long-standing friendship between Monaco and Spain, tracing back over five centuries. Looking ahead, she noted that 2026 will mark the 150th anniversary of Monaco’s diplomatic presence in Spain — an occasion that will further cement the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
