Nearly 30 business leaders from Monaco took part in a trade mission to Montenegro from October 13 to 16, exploring opportunities for investment and cooperation across sectors including finance, innovation, yachting and tourism.

Organised by the Monaco Chamber of Commerce, the visit aimed to strengthen economic ties between the two countries and give participating companies a closer look at Montenegro’s business environment. The mission was supported by Anthony Stent-Torriani, Honorary Consul of Montenegro in Monaco, and organised in cooperation with the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro.

The programme opened in the capital, Podgorica, with an Economic Forum at which the Montenegrin chamber presented an overview of the national economy. The two chambers subsequently signed a cooperation agreement, establishing a framework for closer collaboration between their respective business communities.

More than 150 business-to-business meetings were arranged during the mission, connecting Monaco-based companies with potential partners in Montenegro. Discussions covered a range of industries, with particular attention to finance, innovation, yachting and events.

The delegation also visited the Uniprom aluminium plant to gain first-hand insight into Montenegro’s metals industry. Aluminium and related products represent a significant share of the country’s exports, making the sector an important part of its industrial economy.

Port infrastructure was another focus of the visit. Montenegro’s ports serve both commercial freight and passenger transport, while the Adriatic coastline has attracted investment in luxury nautical tourism, including the development of marinas.

These activities highlighted potential areas for closer cooperation between Monaco and Montenegro, particularly in investment, tourism and yachting, sectors in which businesses from both countries may find opportunities for collaboration.

The trade mission concluded at Porto Montenegro, the luxury marina in Tivat, with a dinner at Maya Bay, a restaurant operated by Monaco-based Maya Collection. The group’s managing director, Richard Maria, joined the gathering, which provided a final opportunity for participants to strengthen professional relationships established during the visit.

Through the mission, the Monaco Chamber of Commerce sought to connect local businesses with new international partners while giving them direct access to Montenegro’s economic landscape and investment opportunities.
