Business owners from across Germany will meet their Monegasque counterparts at a one-day economic forum in Monte-Carlo on Friday, October 9, as the two countries mark 75 years of diplomatic relations.

The forum is organised at the Novotel Monte-Carlo by the Monaco Economic Board, which this week became the Chamber of Commerce of Monaco. It is backed by Monaco’s embassy covering Germany, Poland and Austria, and held in partnership with the German Federation for Economic Development and Foreign Trade (BWA).

The German delegation brings together companies from yachting, communication and marketing, digital, real estate, wholesale, law, finance and healthcare. A provisional list of participants has been published.

The centrepiece is a series of one-to-one B2B meetings, designed to let the visitors and Monaco firms explore potential partnerships. These start at 11.40am, after a morning of presentations on the Monegasque and German economies, and a Monaco company will share its experience of doing business in the Principality. Guillaume Rose, chief executive of the organisation, and deputy chief executive Justin Highman will present the Monegasque economy.

The event opens with a welcome coffee at 9.45am and finishes with a business lunch from 1pm to 2.30pm. Member companies that cannot arrive early can join from 10.50am.

The forum is one of a number of events marking the anniversary. Monaco and Germany established diplomatic relations in October 1951, through a legation that became an embassy in 1983. Germany is Monaco’s second-largest trading partner in the EU after Italy, according to the German Foreign Office.
