A solidarity aquathlon was held at Larvotto on Sunday, September 20, 2026, as part of Monaco’s activities marking World Alzheimer’s Day.
Organised by the Association Monégasque pour la Recherche sur la Maladie d’Alzheimer (AMPA), the event brought participants together for a combination of swimming and running, with the aim of raising awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and supporting research into the condition.
The morning’s activities saw participants take to the waters off Larvotto before completing a running course along the waterfront, with many wearing purple caps and T-shirts in support of the campaign.
The aquathlon formed part of “Monaco Bouge Pour Ceux Qui Oublient”, a week-long programme of sporting and solidarity activities organised by AMPA from September 15 to 21. The initiative uses sport and physical activity to encourage public engagement with Alzheimer’s awareness and prevention.
The programme culminates on Monday, September 21, World Alzheimer’s Day, with the Marche Alzheimer Monaco, a solidarity walk beginning at Place Anne-Marie Campora in Larvotto and passing through Mareterra before returning to the starting point.
AMPA carries out activities in Monaco and internationally to support Alzheimer’s research, raise public awareness and assist people living with the disease and their families.
