Welcomed by Saint-Raphaël Mayor Frédéric Masquelier, the Sovereign explored an exhibition that highlights the remarkable diversity of prehistoric animal life once found across the Mediterranean region. The collaboration between the two museums reflects a shared commitment to preserving and promoting archaeological and scientific heritage through public education and cultural exchange.
The Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology, founded in Monaco in 1902 by Prince Albert I, is internationally recognised for its research into human prehistory and the evolution of ancient ecosystems. Its collections and expertise have contributed significantly to the development of the exhibition in Saint-Raphaël.
The visit also underlined the close cultural links between Monaco and neighbouring communities along the French Riviera, with institutions on both sides of the border regularly working together on projects celebrating the region’s rich natural and historical heritage.
The Prehistoric Fauna exhibition continues to welcome visitors at the Archaeological Museum throughout the summer.
