As 2025 drew to a close, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II addressed the people of Monaco in his traditional New Year’s message, marking a symbolic moment as he approaches twenty years on the throne…
Broadcast on the evening of December 31, the address followed long-standing custom and concluded with Princess Charlène and their children, Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, joining the Sovereign to extend New Year wishes in French, English and Monegasque.
At the heart of the message was a clear and consistent theme: unity. The Prince opened by offering his wishes for health, success and happiness, while expressing his hope that the Principality would continue to “develop in serenity and unity,” a phrase that set the tone for the entire address.

Looking back on the year, the Sovereign highlighted a series of achievements across multiple fields. He cited political and diplomatic successes, including high-level international visits and the Blue Economy and Finance Forum, which reinforced Monaco’s commitment to sustainable development. Economic stability, strong public finances and the Principality’s enduring attractiveness were also underlined, alongside notable sporting performances by Monegasque athletes on the international stage.
Beyond these results, Prince Albert II placed particular emphasis on what he described as Monaco’s most important strength: its people. He praised the cohesion shown during key collective moments, including the celebrations marking the twentieth anniversary of his reign, and reaffirmed his determination to promote Monaco’s unique model in 2026.
In closing, the Prince addressed those facing hardship, offering reassurance and solidarity, and expressing confidence that unity will remain Monaco’s greatest asset in the year ahead.
