Monaco’s Ambassador to Spain, H.E. Catherine Fautrier, visited the Principality of Asturias alongside Andorra’s Ambassador, H.E. Eva Descarrega, last week. This autonomous province in northern Spain, with Oviedo as its capital, welcomed the two ambassadors for a series of diplomatic meetings aimed at strengthening ties.
The visit began with an audience with the President of the Government of Asturias, Mr. Adrián Barbón. Discussions focused on the political structures of Monaco and Andorra, as well as the historical and cultural connections linking the three regions. The ambassadors were later welcomed by the Mayor of Oviedo, Mr. Alfredo Canteli, with whom they explored opportunities for future collaboration, particularly in the cultural and tourism sectors.
The official programme concluded with a meeting with the President of the Asturian Parliament, Mr. Juan Cofiño. These engagements reaffirmed Monaco’s commitment to international dialogue and regional cooperation within Spain.
Ahead of the formal visits, the ambassadors also introduced their respective countries during a presentation held at the Press Club of La Nueva España, highlighting the values, history, and current initiatives of Monaco and Andorra. This visit marked another step in fostering friendly and productive relations between the Principality and Spanish regions.
