Mayor Georges Marsan, joined by members of the Municipal Council, addressed local journalists during an annual press gathering held on Thursday, January 16, in the Wedding Room of the Monaco Town Hall. The event served as a platform to reflect on the past year’s accomplishments and outline future municipal projects while emphasising the critical role of the press in fostering a vibrant and informed community.
Expressing his gratitude to Monaco’s media professionals, Mayor Marsan acknowledged their contribution to maintaining transparency and engaging the public on key issues: “Monaco benefits from a diverse, multilingual press that reflects our unique identity and supports our shared goals. This plurality is vital for the success of public initiatives aimed at serving Monegasques and residents alike.”
Reflecting on 2024, the Mayor highlighted several milestones, including the renovation of the Council Chamber and Monte-Carlo crèche, as well as ongoing projects at the Exotic Garden and the Îlot Pasteur site, set to host the Caroline Media Library and a new performance hall. The past year also marked significant anniversaries in Monaco’s twinning relationships: the 15th anniversary with Lucciana, the 60th anniversary with Ostend, and the first year of partnership with Dolceacqua.
Marsan celebrated the success of community events such as U Sciaratu, the Attractions Fair, the Sports Village, and the Christmas Village, which collectively saw a record-breaking 30 percent increase in attendance. He also highlighted the Municipality’s commitment to environmental sustainability, noting the completion of its first carbon footprint assessment—an important step aligned with the Principality’s broader ecological goals championed by HSH the Sovereign Prince.
Looking ahead, Mayor Marsan outlined key projects for 2025, including the completion of the Exotic Garden renovation, the Caroline Media Library, and the new performance hall. He also announced upcoming redevelopment plans for the Marché de la Condamine, which will commence later this year.
The gathering concluded with an informal breakfast, offering an opportunity for open dialogue and strengthened connections between local officials and media representatives.
Extending warm wishes for health, happiness, and prosperity in the year ahead, Mayor Marsan and the Municipal Council reaffirmed their commitment to serving the Principality and fostering its continued growth and success.
